December 15th, 2004. Pe'ahi (Jaws), Maui. Not the most "amazing" shot, but I like it. I'm really kicking myself in the ass for not sending this one in to a surf magazine. This was without a doubt the biggest swell to hit the north shores of Hawaii in '04. After this occured I started seeing shots almost identical to this in big surf magazines. Oh well, I missed my chance on this one.
I know what you mean. You see stuff in magazines and newspapers all the time and you say "Hey, I could do *at least* that good!"
This is a good photograph. I could easily see this in a surf magazine. The problem I see is when you go to the beach you get too many photographers out there all shooting the same thing.. makes it hard to come up with something that everyone else didn't get too.

yeah, it was magnificent that day. but the helicopters were killing it. you couldn't hear the waves crash cause the choppers were so loud. still an amazing experience in my life though. absolutely insane!
